CEO Statement 22/05/2020

Dear families.

On Friday 22nd May 2020 Doncaster Council released a statement in which the mayor recommended Doncaster schools should not re-open from 1 June.

Whilst this might be confusing for families, we want to reassure you that we will be continuing with our wider opening plans from 1 June as already communicated.

We are continuing to follow the advice of the UK Government. Special schools have remained open throughout the lockdown, and we have only had site closures where low pupil numbers – due to family preference – have meant it’s not been viable to open a school site.

From 1 June, we will continue to increase our offer, and this same consistent approach is being taken by all schools in Nexus MAT.
Families do not have to send their children to school if that is their preference.

The Council still have a legal duty to provide home to school transport regardless, so please contact the School Transport Team at the Council if you have any questions about arrangements for your child.

Thursday 13th August
In line with the Government announcement to increase provision for children and young people from the 1st June, our school has been open today for families who have requested provision, those families who are critical key workers and those who are vulnerable.
Provision continues to be a choice for families. At present, pupils who do not attend will receive an authorised absence code. Our school day will not be a normal school day. Provision in school will be a revised learning provision with a significant focus on emotional well-being.
Presently, families wishing for their child to return to school must provide transport as the home-school transport service is currently under review in line with social distancing measures and Government guidance.
Children attending school will be provided with a school meal. Those who are eligible for Free School Meals will continue to receive an ecode or voucher reflective of the days that they are not in school.
Families who wish to request provision are asked to contact the school either by telephone or via the school email address: pennineview.admin@nexusmat.org
Thank you – Sarah Mulhall (Headteacher)

Pupils who join the school often have a wide range of different needs and they bring with them a wonderful mix of interests and personalities. We take pride in our transition work to ensure that each young person continues to progress and learn following their time at Pennine View.

Pupils at Pennine View School are given the very best support to ensure that they gain the most from the educational experiences offered. Pennine View staff work in partnership with families and the wider professional community to achieve aspirational goals. This creates a personalised pathway which is fun, challenging and purposeful.

Our website will provide you with a valuable insight into everyday life within the school, additional activities and special events that highlight our work – we hope you’ll explore and enjoy!
